If you follow my posts or read my job hunt basics e-course, you know all about my job search adventures. I’m no stranger to the field and have dealt with everything it has to offer. Lucky me, I guess.
I’ve had the added bonus of watching my wife go through it as well – “Up Close & Personal” you might say. Remember the movie? Robert Redford serves and the senior journalist / mentor to the young reporter played by Michele Pfeiffer. They later become lovers, marry and and everything else Hollywood.
My wife’s a lovely lady. You got to meet her. Today we visited the dean at the high school my daughter will attend this fall. Now you have to picture my wife. You get her talking about any one of our three daughters (one of her favorite topics in the world) and she’s on a role. You want details. She has them. You have to realize, she goes way back with these folks.

I wasn’t able to get a word in during today’s meeting, ...

My wife and I went the movies to watch “Couples Retreat” and got a bit more than we expected. It was filled with the expected Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau gags. It’s a funny movie. But what surprised us was the very positive pro-marriage message. I think it’s just what the doctor ordered for a strained job seeker marriage.
“Funeral” is a new TV commercial available off youTube launched by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS). It looks at marriage in a different light. An middle aged woman shares some humorous stories during her eulogy at her husband’s funeral. She is celebrating how beautiful imperfections are what make a relationship perfect.

It’s not the huge events that make a relationship special as much as the mundain that we often miss or forget to appreciate. I found that during tough job search, I was ...

When I was unemployed and obsessed with finding work, I was so focused on finding work my marriage and relationships suffered. When I returned to work, in a job I really enjoyed, my natural bent to overachieve took over. Once again my marriage took a back seat. I can get so focused on my “projects” as I like to call them the pursuit drives a wedge between my wife and me.
