You can listen to the Cenedella’s announcement on CNBC below:
I’d really like to hear your thoughts on this. Please share them in the comments section below.

We eat, we sleep, we watch our favorite TV shows. We listen to music and maybe play a little solitaire or poker on our computers every day. But do we exercise each day?
Yes?
No?
Sometimes?
Never? Unfortunately, few of us can answer yes to this question. But at least getting some exercise a few days a week is better than nothing. Some of us can’t even attain that. It is true there is a lack of downtime in this fast-paced world of working, commuting and chauffeuring the kids.
When we do have a few …

I received an email recommending this story off the Fox News site. I don’t really need to say much more than what’s included in this 10 minute video. Two people who have no reason to forgive did so in a very public way as a part of their court testimonies. They serve as an example for us all.
As job hunters who were possibly treated unfairly by our former employers, there’s a lot we can learn from this very valuable example.

In 1964, Disney’s Mary Poppins was nominated for an academy award and Julie Andrews won Best Actress. People went in droves to see the enchanted story line and animation. (My goodness, real actors could interact with cartoons!) It was a huge success for Disney’s animation business.
I remember how drastically things changed only a decade and a half later. In 1977, no self respecting teen or adult would be caught dead watching an animated flick. We were too busy fighting the crowds to watch John Travolta’s transition from Vinnie Barbarino to …

There’s no better time than right now to pay attention to my own advice. I collect quotes. Some of them are mundain and ordinary. But these very same simple quotes are behind a lot of the advice I give. Take this one:
You are in one of two places. You are either in the current moment or you are nowhere since the past and the future do not exist. Baron Baptiste
Baptiste is the author of a yoga book called “Journey into Power.” In his yoga lessons, he sprinkles tidbits of wisdom like the one …

I attended a South Florida Business Journal event today honoring 25 of South Florida’s most influential business women. You can visit the SFBJ page for a list of the 25 women. I know a few of them and I can tell you, “These are some seriously influential ladies in this town.”
Each woman was given about a minute to share a few thoughts with us and I just had to share with you four “pearls,” as they called them, I took home with me. It’s advice anyone of us doing anything anywhere should consider …

Dr. Woody’s been delivering a steady stream of articles at Fox News since publishing The YOU Plan: A 5-Step Guide to Taking Charge of Your Career in the New Economy. I’ve run a few articles covering his book and articles (just search for Dr. Woody in the search box above) and I give them all positive marks.
His latest article entitled Don’t-Worry-Be-Happy Strategy Can Pay Off says a dose of positivity can do wonders to make us a more effective job hunter. He also says it goes against negativity trend so apparent all around us
He …

Those of you who follow my blog will remember my recent review of Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love book. (You can click here to read it.) I found the book facinating. I compared it with Eckhart Tolle’s books as a resource for increasing your conscious contact with the divine.
Gilbert is hands down a talent at vividly narrating her mental thoughts, emotions and confusion. The banter and chatter in her head is so clear you’d swear you were hearing them firsthand through your IPOD head phones.
She described her journey from divorce, confusion and spiritual bankruptcy to conversion …

My daughter gave me a copy of “Eat, Pray, Love” and it was a book that gave me some unexpected spiritual insight. And it was a good addition to a few others I’ve reviewed to help explore our spiritual side. I’ve read and reviewed “Silence on Fire” (follow this link for my review). I also wrote reviews for Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth“. These three books work at explaining and enlightening me about the spiritual. I recommend them, but cannot deny these aren’t the easiest …

I make a habit of attending noon Mass near the place where I work. It’s only a few blocks down and it gives me a chance to get away from what is typically a busy and stressful day. It occassionally also gives me a chance to attend confession.
Before Fr. Eddy even saw me coming around the separator for a face to face confession, he started aloud with his prayers. Then he stopped abruptly, “Jorge, how are you? How are you and your family?” He wore his usual smile and, as always, slowly …

I ran into this great article from The Positivity Blog. It includes a ton of Mark Twains best quotes and organizes them into nine self improvement tips I wanted to share with all of you.
Job hunting can be about as unmotivating as it gets. It’s like getting a punch in the gut and it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get better anytime soon. I hope this can be of help to you.
Hope this helps.

Setting boundaries is the single most common issue my clients deal with in their personal and professional lives. Why do women find them so difficult to put in place? And what can you do if a lack of boundaries is standing between you and the career success you desire?
What are Boundaries?
Whether you’re working in the corporate world or running your own business, you need to develop and continually exercise strong boundaries. Boundaries are the environment within which you operate – mentally, emotionally and physically. They separate you from other people.
Think …

I’ve been following Anne Naylor in the Huffington Post and she comes up with some really good personal motivational posts. This week I’m just pointing your in her direction without much of my own writing because she’s got some good advice that does just fine without my commentary.
I guess you could say, I’ve moved my ego out of the way and admitted she does it just fine. No help from me required.

A couple of years ago, I wrote an article about delegation. I enjoy managing my business and delegating out any and all tasks that I can. Instead, I focus my time and energy doing high value activities that result in the best return for me – both in terms of my personal happiness and profits.
Productivity and time management are some of my favorite subjects and areas around which I frequently coach my clients. The other day, I read an article about managing email. The author pointed out 5 actions we …

I watched the World Cup final Sunday in a small restaurant called Los Gallegos with good friends and family. You can probably guess which colors we were sporting. It was a tough and evenly matched final. What a thrill it was to land on the winning side.
As I rested that evening listening to the sportscaster banter back and forth over the game, I couldn’t help but reflect on the massive difference a few seconds made on the game’s outcome. It took España several seconds in front of the goal and one Andrea Iniesta kick …

I started reading “The Walk” by Richard Paul Evans on the recommendation of a blogger Monique Catoggio. (Very cool! She’s the only other blogger I’ve met face-to-face. Click here to see her Being Enpointe blog post on The Walk.)
A few lines out of it’s prologue really struck me. The main character Alan Christoffersen a widower says:
It’s better to be loved by one person who knows your soul than millions who don’t even know your phone number. I have loved and have been loved as deeply as a man can hope for, …

Ann Naylor in her Huffington Post article mentions a Cannes Festival movie Biutiful and writes an interesting article on powerlessness. What is about loosing control of situations that brings out the possible best and worse in us?
I life and in this economy and job market, we have to deal with so many situations where we don’t have control and have to accept (or not accept) the circumstances pretty much as they are. She discusses a total of fifteen things we can do in these situations of powerlessness.
I think it’s a worthwhile read to help us …

If you follow my posts or read my job hunt basics e-course, you know all about my job search adventures. I’m no stranger to the field and have dealt with everything it has to offer. Lucky me, I guess.
I’ve had the added bonus of watching my wife go through it as well – “Up Close & Personal” you might say. Remember the movie? Robert Redford serves and the senior journalist / mentor to the young reporter played by Michele Pfeiffer. They later become lovers, marry and and everything else Hollywood. Celine Dion sings …

Things are changing in corporate America and they are changing fast. There are things in the works many of us never would have thought possible a mere 10 years back. Get this PersonnelToday.com article. It covers IBM’s plans to cut its staff drastically over the next several years.
Please keep in mind that IBM is no corporate fly-by-night. I worked there from 1984 to 1994 and until 1993 they had NEVER laid any off. They had kept their full employment policy intact since 1911. The company truly believed it owed …

We tend to bestow our jobs with the ultimate status; granting it almost exaggerated importance in our lives. While it is obvious that a paycheck is absolute survival for the vast majority, being challenged to think beyond this no-brainer.
If you can look away for even a moment, it may help you to maintain balance and offer a bit of solace while you continue the often brutal search for a job.
By now you might think me to be nuts but something struck me and stuck with me some time back. It still …
